If ur classes start in jan
Then u wrote a date dec 4 2013
I shud hv jan 4 2014
It was mistake of colge

there is no mistake , the college wants me to inform them before Dec 4, 2013. seniors please help, I am a lil confused

The sticker on your passport with official hologram and duration is your STUDENT VISA - which is also a TRV (Temp Resident Visa)

Now.. the letter which you get along with it - LOI (Letter of Introduction) is the document you will need along with the TRV for generation of your STUDY PERMIT..

No matter where you land in Canada, that will be your Port of Entry (POE), where your documents will be looked at by the Immigration Officer and you will be issued a STUDY PERMIT for a duration of your current course.. The duration may be equal or less than the duration mentioned on your TRV.

This will not happen till you LAND in Canada.. So if you are not landing before 4th Dec, then there is no way you can get your Study Permit by then..
So this is what you do..

Do not waste time.. drop an email.. and also give a call to the "International Students" department of the college..
Both ways, you tell them that you are landing on XYZ date.. you have your tickets booked.. and that is when you will get your STUDY PERMIT.. so the date of 4th Dec is not possible.. So is this a mistake from College's side ? If yes, then fine.. you r good to go..

If no.. n they really mean it..
then tell them the whole game and mention that you will land a lil before the classes start and that shall be your Study Permit acquisition date.. dat is it..

Nothing to worry..
This will get sorted.. bloopers like this happen..

All the best..

according to canadian colleges 2 yrs course means a 4 sem course. 1 sem duration is 4 months. so a 16 months 4 sem course is counted as 2 yr course. after completion of it u will get a work permit of 3 yrs

16 mnths continuous :/ ??
Any vocations ???

In my case, as per the offer letter, the duration is 1 yr but the sems are continuous and will be completed in 8 months, starting Jan 6th and ending August 30th. The student permit is given till Nov 30th 2014. what will be duration of my work permit? 8 months or 1 yr?
