Is same sex marriage outside canada can apply for spousal sponsorship? Because I read on this website says

"Same-sex marriages that took place outside of Canada are not valid for spousal sponsorship, but an application can be made under either the common-law partner or conjugal partner categories if such a relationship can be coomon law or conjugal"

Same-sex marriage outside of Canada is only valid in Canada if the country you got married in holds the same laws, meaning that country recognizes same-sex marriage as equal and legal.

If you were married outside Canada, you may apply to sponsor your same-sex partner as a spouse as long as the marriage is legally recognized according to both the law of the place where the marriage occurred and under Canadian law.

It is your responsibility to provide information to CIC confirming that your same-sex-marriage was legally recognized when and where it occurred.

It is worded a little weird, but it also says "If the marriage took place outside of Canada, it must be valid under the law of the country where it took place as well as under Canadian federal law." which is basically what we said here, too.
