Hi there,

I am planning to apply for US tourist visa from outside of Canada, but I am concerned that it may be refused because I have Canada PR status and still working in home country (thus not having strong tie to neither home country or Canada).

Should the visa be refused, is it going to impact my reentry to Canada using my PR card?

I have not used PR card to re-enter Canada before so I am not sure about the process. Is there going to be questioning from immigration officer at the border, or is it an automatic process? Will I be asked whether we have been refused visa from other country before?

Thanks for sharing your experience!

As a PR you are entitled to enter the Canada so whatever happens to your US visa application is irrelevant and you will not be asked.

The only time really a PR might get additional questioning at a border is if they have been found to have not met their 2/5 residency obligation in which case they might be reported leading to PR potentially being revoked.

Other than that having an expired PR card could also be an issue but in either case as a PR the traveller is entitled to enter the country.
