Is proof of address required for G1 test?

Provide friend address .They will deliver the G1 licence to your friend address after you pass by three weeks. The good thing that you can use this licence in the future as a proof of address

Confirmed - I went for the G1 test yesterday and they just ask you to write your address on a paper, no proof required.

However take your passport with you, proof of ID is required.

I provided my friends address where I was staying initially when I gave my G1
(no proof was required), after few weeks of living there and receiving my G1 I moved to my own place. G1 had an address of friends place.
When I appeared for G rd test when I cleared it, I was provide them my new/current address at the counter (no proof was required)

Can I ask you - how did you gain driving experience (driving school?...) and how did you get a car to attend the G road test exam (did you rent, borrowed it from a friend etc..?)

I got introduced to an instructor tthrough a buddy of mine in Toronto, driving here was not a big shift for since I was driving in Middle East which had similar driving side of the the road (left hand drive). The instructor provided his car. I remember paying $ 30 per class ( I would have take 5-7 classes in total) and the G road test again in the instructors car.
Borrow from friend or rental car is not recommended because of insurance issue and legal reasons

Avg driving class should cost you $30/35(do negotiate)

Yeah they do but they will charge you, you should require with them it varies

i am planning to soft land in November for a week. is it possible to take G1 during that period?

Yes shaikh walk in to drive test(Ontario) loc with your passport and landing paper (original)

Did you get the driver history letter from Kuwait or India to give you a shot at direct G rd test after G1

Great. i wish i was a sheikh . may i ask which middle eastern country you are from? i am finding it difficult to get a DL extract from Kuwait. hence planning to use one from India
