My wife had applied for citizenship in January and looking at the spreadsheet, it is very likely that she'll be taking the exam and getting her citizenship by the end of the year.

Her PR card is expiring in October.

The process of getting a new one is tedious and costs money.

I was wondering if the card is even needed, granted she is not planning to travel outside of Canada until she gets her citizenship.

Is the card required for going through the citizenship process?

Thanks.

No you don’t need a valid PR card.
Good Evening,
Is there a link where we can verify this ? as my PR card is expiring in November and I have applied for Citizenship and received AOR in 1st week of August. I heard you need to have a valid PR card while you sit for your Citizenship Exam. Even though CIC says processing time is 14 days I am kinda sceptic on this and would like to know if I really need a Valid PR card ?
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
