Hello,
I am kind of confused if I should be answering Yes or No to the below question:
"Before this relationship, was your sponsor related to you in any way, e.g.,
  • Your sponsor was related to a member of your family.
  • Your sponsor family member was related to you or a member of your family."
So basically my wife belongs to my father's elder brother's wife's family. Based on this she won't be considered a close family relative but still she is a part of the family in a way. I am not really sure what IRCC means by 'family member' term in the context of this question.
Should I say yes and then explain this family tree in a letter of explanation or is it a simple No for this question?

How does your wife belong to your uncle's wife's family? Is she the sister of your uncle's wife? Is your wife sponsoring you?

It doesn't matter, since she is not a person identified, here:

I’m the sponsor and she is the principal applicant. She is also not my uncle’s wife sister but my uncle’s wife’s cousin brother’s daughter so it’s a pretty distant relationship.

I went over the link you posted and don’t think she would then be a member of my family so I’m guessing it’s a No for this question?

Not even a blood relative. So answer NO

Am I correct to assume that this is an arranged marriage?

If so - while I agree with the statement by others that this is not a family member, and that's the right answer - I believe you'll be providing information on how you were introduced.

I believe it would be appropriate there - and possibly make it easier for those who evaluate - to be clear about how the introduction was made and that it was through a relative and the spouse also a distant relative. I think it's also correct to say a distant and not a blood relative (although I doubt that's defined anywhere official). This is not that uncommon and nothign wrong with being upfront about it, shouldn't hurt your app (and in my view better to volunteer the info).
