I have put employed as she is technically with the company, but she is currently on sick leave which will turn into maternity at the end of the month when out child is born. She technically holds a position with the company so we ticked employed and have included our pregnancy information, but should we be choosing unemployed if she is currently applying for sickness unemployment?
 
You answered your own question in the first sentence. ;)

Just as you would still be employed if you had an injury, or illness, where you were unable to work temporarily, your wife has the same situation...except this `situation' is 50% your fault. :)
