If he's visa exempt, he can visit without a visitor visa. If he's non-visa exempt, he can certainly try applying for a visitor visa (no guarantee it will be approved).

Can he apply for the 6 month visitor?
But isn't that for 3 months? My husband wants to stay for 6. Is he eligible for the 6 month visa?tink23 said:Being from Ireland he doesn't need to apply for a visitor visa. He can fly in. He will go through customs and they will ask a few questions. He should have proof of funds to support himself. He should have a return ticket, and he should say he is visiting you (don't use language like moving or living).
Really? So he can't just apply for a 6 month visitor visa?davek1979 said:It depends on what the CBSA officer at the point of entry gives him. It is not guaranteed that he will get 6 months. He can get a changeable ticket. It needs to look like he is not going to be live here. If he wants more time he can always apply for an extension and he will have implied status until it is either granted or rejected.
