Hi everyone,

My mom already got a regular TRV and plans to visit Canada for only 2 months (might or might not extend her stay), will she be required to show medical insurance at Canada border or this is only for those holding a super visa?

thanks & best regards,

No she do not need it, its only for Super Visa.

She may not need it to get the TRV, but it is a good idea to buy it. If she ends up in the hospital, you are looking at thousands of dollars a day in charges.

You can get insurance before or after her arrival. If for some reason she needs medical attention and she did not already buy insurance than your out of luck, so its best to buy insurance as soon as possible.

I would agree that Insurance should be considered, even for a short visit. The cost is very little in comparison to what a claim could cost. You can purchase it directly from our website, prior to or after your arrival, although a 48 hour exclusion period usually applies if you wait until your arrival in Canada before purchase. I have had first hand experience in having to make a claim during a very short trip to Disneyland that cost over $35,000 for a relatively minor problem.
