Hello Forum members,

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I have received Canada EE ITA in 88th EE draw (under CEC category); have completed filling all the application details and started reviewing the checklist documents

I was looking into the CIC - EE medical exam rules, and website lists everyone (PR applicants) should have a medical exam; and my checklist documents also lists upload medicals as mandatory (not sure if i have to do pre-medical or only should go for medical exam after submitting the application and receiving a medical request from CIC officer).
But when i looked into other threads about medical exam, some of the application status (post documents submission for CIC officer review) lists-
  • Medical Exam - You do not require a medical exam..
I am little confused here. can someone please clarify my below queries-
  1. Is there any case, where CEC group/ individual application(s) in EE are exempted from medical exam (due to their health results already being available in Province health database from a recent detail examination by a non cic panelist doctor or for any other reason..) ?
  2. Should i go for a medical exam before submission of documents (and upload the medical exam details) or only after receiving a request from CIC officer post documents review (that i have received in checklist) ?
Please help!

Thanks in advance.

As you say, you are in Canada under any status. have you done any medical exam previously, during your last 12 month?
Some times previous exams, for any reason, are still valid, even more than 12 months. that's happen to my spouse during asking for the work visa from student visa (student visa 2014 and work visa 2016) no medial exam needed. For PR CIC asked medical exams in 2017 under PEQ-Student.

yes medical is required upfront for CEC. I’m CEC inland, and you are supposed to take medical before AOR. And submit everything along and upload emedical at the submission.

Thank you @strikeharsh for the info, i'll do an upfront medical for myself, but will wait for medical request for my spouse (since CIC doesnt accept upfront medicals for family class- Sponsored applicants). Hope this is correct, please correct me if i am wrong about the spouse medicals.

Thanks for the info @Cassiano, I have gone thru the CIC medical test during my initial Work Permit application in Oct 2015, and will now be invalid since it was done long time ago.
I will keep this thread posted with my application review about medicals (as per inputs from @strikeharsh), so that it would help other forum members in future.

Your spouse is not a "family class-sponsored applicant". You and your dependents need to have medicals done upfront.

Thank you for the reply, my spouse is in INDIA and i am in Canada. So, am i not sponsoring my spouse in this case ?
As per the details in CIC link -
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/medical-exams/requirements-permanent-residents.html.
Are you applying to sponsor your spouse, partner or child?
A new application process for the spousal sponsorship program came into effect on December 15, 2016. Spouses, partners or dependent children can no longer do an upfront medical exam. Wait for our instructions before going for your medical exam.

CIC mentions, i need to wait for instructions from CIC for medical exam for sponsored applications.
Please correct me if i am wrong. Thanks again

Only Canadian citizens/PRs can sponsor their spouses.

The "You do not need a medical exam" is a generic status for all newly submitted EE PR applications. All of us need up-front medicals. That sentence will disappear and change to "You passed medical exam" ~7-10 days after submission.

If you include dependents in your application, you are not sponsoring them. The sponsorship is another class of PR applications :)

Quick question - @canuck_in_uk @limin_w and other forum members,

Does "IMMIGRATION Medical VISA OFFICER" or "Immigration Medical Panel Physician" have access to the personal health records of an individual in PROVINCIAL Healthcare database; like my personal medical records information available in Provincial Healthcare database

I have undergone some tests in the Canada province; and i am not sure, if i have to disclose that information to the Panel Physician during Immigration medical exam. I am little worried that, i might be open for vulnerability, if they start looking into details and delay my case or asks me take additional tests from specialists (which might cost me a lot personally).
My point of view is - If the Panel Physician doctor/ Medical Visa Officer has a doubt, he/ she would definitely send me for additional review; and in that case the additional cost burden is unavoidable.
Please help me in this case. I have a medical exam appointment scheduled for tomorrow.
Thanks again.

Ok... so I recall seeing from somewhere that Ontario shares health information with the Federal government. But then, I searched this document which defined what info is shared between ON and IRCC: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/agreements/federal-provincial-territorial/ontario/canada-ontario-memorandum-understanding-information-sharing-march-2004.html. I did not see health info being on the list...

With that being said, withholding info from IRCC is a ground for inadmissibility, so I highly recommend you to consult a lawyer on this regard.

Will there be any concern for spouse's miscarriage/abortion (happened in last 1 year while staying in Canada) for the medical exam for EE?

You should inform the PP during appointment, but I do not think it is an issue at all... Medical exam checks two things: 1) diseases that is communicable (TB, Syphilis), 2) conditions that could cause excessive demand on health care system. Miscarriage/abortion, IMHO, is not any of the above... unless there are serious underlying cause.
