Hi,
I am looking to apply for Canadian PR through express entry.
I have been working here in Canada since September 2015. My LMIA and work permit expire in September 2016.

Although I got my work permit and LMIA for 1 year, my initial job contract was for 6 months and then my company gave me another 6 months job extension.

So my question is can I utilise my current LMIA to gain 600 points or do I need atleast a 1 year job offer+LMIA to gain 600 points.

If you're still working for same employer then you may use your LMIA and get 600 points

Go through this thread

"The expiry of the LMIA only affects the time period within which you can apply for the work permit.

You can still use the LMIA to apply for PR. Your "job offer" has to be a written offer of permanent, full-time, non-seasonal employment contingent upon you successfully obtaining PR status (Same employer as the one that was issued the LMIA).

For rules about what a "valid job offer" is, see -

THnx for your reply.

Yes I am still with the same employee. And they have given me another job extension till Feb 2017 and also applied for new LMIA and work permit.

So I understand that If I create my EE profile, I will currently be under FSW right? will that affect any processing times as supposed to being in CEC?

The LMIA is not enough, you need a permanent job with it, with no end date to get the 600points.
If you submit your application to EE with no permanent job, they will remove the 600 points when they will study your case. And if your total points is less than the minimum of the draw batch you get your invitation without those 600points, your application will be rejected.

So when I made my EE profile, I didn't mention that I have an LMIA.
Therefore it only showed 350 points for me .

Will it still get rejected?

No, but you won't get an ITA either. The current cut-off is 480+ points.

Ask your employer for a full time job offer.

yeah I will talk to my employer..

So a 1 year job offer is also considered as Full Time offer?

Whether or not it's full time depends on how many hours per week you work. Anything above 30 hours per week is considered full time.

But the job offer also needs to be permanent. A one year contract is not a permanent job offer. You must get a job offer from your employer that is not time-bound.

The letter should have these words

"XYZ is a full time permanent employee at ABC"

Hi.
Asking for friends.
One has a valid job offer and approved LMIA, but still waiting for the work permit, already applied. My question for her, is there gonna be an automatic 600 pts., if she will try to apply for her express entry?
She had eca and celpip (one category is 6, the rest is 7). She is skilled back home, but has been student since 2016. Hence, waiting for her work permit now.

My other friend, we are in her express entry, she didnt finished her college, and there is no option there that we can her finished semester. She finished just 1 sem.the complete/full academic yr is supposed to be 1yr. We still input 1 yr since we cannot proceed, filling it out with just .40...would that be fine? And, her husband has an LMIA, we cannot see the detials of issuance and expiry date. What do yout think will be our basis, to fill in her express entry profile? Coz in her express 3ntry, there is a question asking about the start and end date of tge LMIA. But on her hand now, the copy she has didnt mention about those dates we need. But confused here.
Thank you very much. Hope to read soon, from you guys!

Valid job offers are no longer 600 points - only 50 points.
