Hi, this is Sridhar. I am a PR of Canada. But I stayed out of Canada for the last 2 years. My PR is still valid and I will be returning to Canada in a week's time.

I am planning to sponsor PR for my wife and daughter as soon as I come to canada, may be in a couple of weeks from now.

Now the question is, do I need to have a job in hand to sponsor PR for my wife and daughter? Is it mandatory? Or if I show some bank balance say some $20,000, will that be sufficient? I will try to find a job (software engineer) as soon as I come to Canada. But, in the worst case, it might take a few months. So, just wondering if I can file PR for my wife and daughter, while I get the job, so that the PR gets processed sooner.

Thanks in advance,
Sridhar.

As long as you're not on welfare, you should be fine.
Tell them your plans too.

Good luck

You don't need to have money on spousal sponsorship.
Just tell them your plans and how you're goin' to make things work.
Good luck.
