Is it worth working through an agency for a study permit?

Some of these agencies that you can use to help you through the study permit process are really expensive.

• I would just like to know if someone has gone through this process by themselves?
• What is the success rate if you do it by yourself?
• How long does this process normally take? (with/without an agent)

Most people here have applied on their own without an agent.
The chances of success with / without an agent really aren't that different. Whether you are approved or not depends on the strength of your application.

Having an agent doesn't make your application stronger. What's included in the application is what makes the application strong or not.

If you want the help of an agent, by all means go ahead and hire one. It's completely your choice.

Ok , thank you very much once again for your reply. I just don't want to spend unnecessary money. I already came this far, college applications, got accepted, arranged for accommodation, and everything without an agent, so I don't want to mess up in the end as time is very limited now.

hello i just saw ur post and found something which i wanted to know. How did u arranged for accomodation . u had some friends over there or any other way?. just share it if u want to. i am going to a place where i don't know anyone. hope i can find something helpful///

Hi,

The college that I got accepted at actually has a residence, and they had a link on their website to other private accommodation in the area. You can also Google accommodation in that area and just start contacting people, that's what I should do. The Canadians are really friendly people and they will direct you in the right direction. The important thing is just to make contact.

You could get some advice from any of your colleagues on how to apply n all .this agents ripp you off with charging high n try to scare you that many Visas are rejected n tell you how important they are. N they make you believe that without them you just cant get a visa

That's exactly what I thought. They told me that there's a lot of red tape, and they make you feel like you can't get a permit without them. I think I can do this by myself. I've been spending A LOT of time on the Canada.ca site, and they have everything you need there. That site again makes you feel that it's not as difficult and scary as you think.

It's not that difficult all this agents do is upload documents which you give em. It's like paying them for uploading.. you'll need to prepare SOP, bank statements, financial letter from bank, passport, forms filled on your own

Hahaha ok, thanks bud. Yeah, I figured that's all they do. I thought maybe they represent you in another legal way that gives you an advantage, but clearly not. Thank you for the reassurance.

just go on www.kijiji.ca and select the area of school and search for accommodation.You can make arrangement but don`t pay yet.I did that few years ago before i arrived in Canada
