Rather than checking ecas directly, subscribe to the ecas tracker tool. It was built by one of our own members and automatically notifies you if there's a change in your ecas status.

Thanks a bunch, this going to save me some serious time.

I honestly don't know what to think about it. Ours never seems to change, .. at least not since we discovered that it finally is accessible. It tells when our package was received early Sept. 2011 and is "in process" since mid Sept. 2012, as well as medical received (was redone Oct 1st.) but it's been sitting there like that for so long that i wonder if she'll actually receive the visa before there are any updates showing.
I think it must depend on who the officer is and if they count the CAS as important or not.

Ditto! Except mine still says 'Application Received'. I can't imagine my reaction if/when it changes...I think my heart will beat right out of my chest! I always have sooooo much hope checking e-cas and my email EVERYDAY. Only to be disappointed when there is no change and no email. ;)
mine is application received since march 2011 lol and up til today. so 22months of application received. i think my heart would stop if ecas changes after 22months lol

Don't rely on it too much. My ecas said "Application Received" when we received PPR. It actually never went to "In Process", it went right from Application Received to Decision Made.

I check it once on Tuesdays otherwise I'll go crazy. I'm sure once February hits, i'll be doing it more.

It used to take me a lot of time but my fingers are so used to my file or my husband's uci number already. I type and tab, tab, tab, enter and boom!....boo! nothing.

Caroll isn't very realiable. It took that site three weeks to discover the updated status. I had already received a letter from CIC.

if you keep repeating the word ecasecasecas - see what it sounds like, that's your answer

Ecas can drive you nuts!!! ??? Trust me, I know. I used to check it multiple times a day. I didn't see a change on ecas for 11 months!!! And that was when we received notice from the VO via email that they were sending out a letter to redo medicals...ecas then changed to "in process". I really had to ween myself off of checking it so much, eventually, it became only once per month which helped! All in all, I really do think it depends on the IO handling the file if they want to use this tool or not, I think it would be very helpful if they did!

Hi Sariss,
How soon did you receive your CoPR in the mail after you've sent your passport?
Did you send a copy or your actual passport?

Thanks so much!

Personally I think the whole thing is bullsh*t. Just a distraction tool to keep people from calling CIC all the time.
Under sponsorship it used to say decision made then ecas went down for 5 weeks when it came back up under sponsorship it now said in process. WTF??
I will wait until the end of march then request our case notes.

Ecas can surprise you anything

Mine went to IN-PROCESS then I saw meds received after 2 days

When you see partial Canadian address, then wait for another day - you will probably see decision made, then its passport return

Above is case in Parents Sponsorship, so yes - once you submit passport, the action days are Saturday night ( no pun intended )

Hi there!

We didn't have to physically send our passport in. I emailed a scanned image the day we got the request and received COPR 11 days later.

I thought your going to say something good like ppr!:) Your comment make me laugh hahahaha :D

Just found out that ecas is not updated through the VO's so that renders it useless.
