hello everyone
is ECAS really reliable....? :o we keep spending our good deal of time on checking it everyday but is it really worth it....?
And in the end get more frustrated by seeing no change in it.....but is it worth spending time checking it soo many times when i am sure VO have this last on there priority list.....TO UPDATE ECAS.....the process surely needs to be more transparent....
any experiences related to ECAS and its reliability.... ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Not really. Mine hadn't changed for a year, and I checked it every day, only to see "Application Received". The only time it was updated was last week when they issued my copr.

I checked my ecas everydays from sept 2011 until i got my visa...ecas is realiable because when my status in decision made after 10 days i got my visa..

Rather than checking ecas directly, subscribe to the ecas tracker tool. It was built by one of our own members and automatically notifies you if there's a change in your ecas status.

My answer is "NOPE, not at all". Except for ONE little 'In Process', EVERY other step of the way we have found out some other way - by email or letter and BEFORE anything showed in ECAS.

I guess the answer to this would depend on the Officer processing your case, My E-cas was updated everytime... I knew from E-cas before I received any e-mails or snail mail for sponsorship approval (because I already had UCI from VR) and the approval of my application...

No. Not at all. When my husband applied in the FSW category, his ECAS still showed in Process even after he got his passport back with the visa in it.

But it gives me something to do. I get a small rush of adrenaline while the page loads. And a drop like going down a rollercoaster when it STILL SAYS IN PROCESS.

so your ecas still says application received....?? and you believe it hasnt got into process yet and they havent even looked at it yet ....?

Yeah our ECAS has't changed from the first time I was able to get on it.... just Sponsor Approved and then Application Received and that they have his medical... We got our PPR on the 12th and it didn't even blip on ecas... no in process or decision made... mostly i go and check it every day just to see... it seemed like less of a waist of time before they added 4 more unnecessary steps to check it.

;D I feel the same way except mine doesn't even say its in process lol

Unfortunately it is unreliable. For some lucky people there ecas was updated regularly and for others not at all, or not until they already received the PPR. Mine hasnt updated at all either. Just the application to Sponsor.

Oh I believe it's IN PROCESS all right. Just depends on what the definition of IN PROCESS is. If it means that the VO opened the first page and decided to admire how cute my husband and I look in the wedding pictures or is wondering where I got my wedding sari from, I really can't say when the PROCESS will be over!

On a more serious note, from what I have read so far, the PP request means they have done the initial verifications, authenticity of marriage, document verification and they are ready to issue visa. Once they receive the PP they do the background check and security clearance etc. So the process has begun, the GCMS notes will help me understand what exactly is taking so long.

Awww. But then again, ECAS is so unreliable. I wonder why it's there in the first place. It's just to pacify us little overeager kids it seems, so we wont bombard them with our silly little demands to know what is happening.

never checked it. Apparantly, its not an option if you win an appeal.

Ditto! Except mine still says 'Application Received'. I can't imagine my reaction if/when it changes...I think my heart will beat right out of my chest! I always have sooooo much hope checking e-cas and my email EVERYDAY. Only to be disappointed when there is no change and no email. ;)
