IS IT THE STANDARD FUNDS REQUIRED FOR IMMIGRATION ENOUGH?

Hello everybody,

I would like the people who are already in Canada to share their thoughts regarding the funds required. I have seen in this forum, many people move to Canada with the minimun required funds and then run into trouble. So what should people bring two to three times the minimun?

Hi canada121,

Yes, I understand that there is a minimun requirement fro qualifying but I have read a lot of people that they just go there with the minimun and suffer.

So in my opinion I think that applicants should not really only on the minimun because I think (I have not lived in Canada yet so I am certain) many people find so many surprises as they move to Canada.

I would like to get the opinion of somebody who is already there so he or she can give us a better picture of the cost of living there.

A lot of it probably depends on how quickly and easily you can get a job (which will depend on your profession + location) and also where you decide to live with regards cost of living (which will also depend on your location!).

Have you already chosen which area of Canada you are thinking of moving to?

Hi Cappuccino,

I am thinking about Windsor, Ontario. It looks like the weather is nice there and it is close to the US. What do you think?

Are you already in Canada?

Depends on your family size, and how much you can tighten ur belt.
Also if you have got your visa already, it is better to start job hunting right away, so that u have a cushion to your supporting funds.

You can also easily google about the expenses in Canada to have an idea. But best is to get a job, the stress of spending from your funds will ease tremendously!!

Good Luck!

Hi canada121,

That is right what you are saying. It would be a lot better if we can get a job before hand but that is very hard to do. Are you already in Canada?

No , I am not in Canada. But I have friends there.

If you have got ur PR status already, there are quite a few threads here in this forum which will help you prepare on how to get a job.

Also, persistance teaches you a lot & does pay off. Same applies for job hunting.
It is tough, sure, but not impossible.

Cheers!

Hi no, we haven't even submitted our application still in the final stages of gathering documents, my wife takes her IELTS today so hopefully will file with full docs in a couple of weeks.

We'd like to settle around Vancouver but it is fairly costly to live in comparison to the rest of Canada, so haven't decided for sure yet!
