hi guys

i applied for cec in august 2014 and still waiting for AOR...i was not aware of importance of job duties when i applied. so i got my manager to write brief duties in my reference letter. but after being in this forum for a while i realized job duties are more important then i thought. i think i can represent my duties more accurately and elaborately than i did.

so is it possible to update my job duties once i receive AOR??...i know i cant do anything until i receive AOR but i would like to update my job duties after i receive AOR..so is it possible ??...and how??

all suggestion and help is appreciated ...

please help

thanks in advance

Yes you can by sending an updated letter to support the application. I guess there is no fault in that.

But you could have been more cautious , These sort of mistakes can turn any where. I am not scaring you but CIC is unpredictable .

Good luck .

thanks for your reply

do i have to update complete reference letter or just letter stating duties??..i am asking this because i work in very large health region. so i had to divide reference letter in two part..1) letter from HR department regarding pay and benefits. 2) letter from my site manager regarding job duties.
so my question is do i have to submit both letters or just job duties because there is no change in pay and benefits.??

i am also concerned about date of new letter. i have seen in this forum somewhere that my experience will be counted till the date of reference letter and it will be locked. i cant update the job experience once it is locked. so if i submit new reference letter do i put the new date?

thanks

yes you may, but u should do it after you receive your file #

u should just include an updated version of your job letter and ask them to use to updated one instead

You cannot "update" your file in the sense that your experience will only be counted before the application was received by CIC - in other words, you cannot "add" work experience time after you apply.

If your initial letter did not include job duties, then it would be OK to send a new letter (from your employer) that provides more detail.

What you have to be really careful about is if anything in the new letter contradicts the old one. Then CIC would have reason to doubt both letters.

The letter doesn't have to provide an extensive list of duties. If it describes the main duties, and they match with the NOC including the lead statement, then it's not a problem. CIC has the option of requesting more information if they feel the leter was not sufficient.

But sometimes you can create more problems for yourself if you try to "fix" what isn't broken in the first place...

thanks jes_on

i am pharmacy technician and i work in hospital pharmacy. main duties provided for pharmacy technician in NOC 2011 are more related to retail pharmacy. very less duties mentioned in NOC are applicable for hospital pharmacy. and pharmacy technician privileges differs from province to province. so i am worried if cic rejects my application because my duties doesn't match 100% with whatever mentioned in NOC.

do they always give us chance to explain ourselves or there are chances that they reject application without giving us chance??...in case if they reject do i have option to appeal the decision?

thanks again

Lead statement is the first statement that starts off the list (of duties).

So, pharmacy technician... NOC 3219 -
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=3&val1=3219&val11=pharmacy&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

Lead statement is a little odd for this NOC, since it's trying to cram together a lot of diverse medical technologists . But it's typically how the occupation is described in the intial paragraph before the main duties. In this case:

"Pharmacy technicians are employed in retail and hospital pharmacies, long-term care facilities and by pharmaceutical manufacturers. " And Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists to

Then the specific duties are:
- maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products;
- ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate, enter client information in databases and prepare medications for clients;
- compound oral solutions, ointments and creams;
- bill third party insurers;
- may help with scheduling and workflow.

It would be easier to address your concerns if you posted the job duties that were described in your letter...

just for curiosity what options do we have if cic rejects application because VO doesn't satisfy with duties...i have seen in this forum that they give a chance to prove ourselves but do they always do that or there are chances that they reject application without giving any chance...if application gets rejected do we have option to ask for second review??....

thanks for all your help and time

Hi,
although there were many applicants who just received their refusal letter without any chance to satisfy the VO with the additional employment letter, there were also lucky ones. Everything depends on the VO.
