Hello all,

I could do with some help.

We are continuing with plans for the EE process, but I would really like to visit for 1 to 2 years with my family initially. Possibly rent a place for the visit, and if all is well and all happy then make the permanent move.

Do you know of anyway this is possible, does a process exist for this, seems a bit of a long shot.

The way I read it is that you can come only if you have a residency visa, whether for a year or not? Is that right?

Thanks

you can always come on a turist visa, but you will not be allowed to work.

Agreed. And you most likely won't be able to stay for 1-2 years. You also won't qualify for the health care program and your children won't be able to attend school.

If you want to come temporarily and be able to work and have most of the benefits of a permanent resident for a year or two - you would need to obtain a work permit. To obtain a work permit you need to first find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job and who can obtain an approved LMIA.
