Hi as a non resident you can buy residential real estate with minimum down payment of 35% as many properties as you can afford.
For more info please go to alrivas. com or you can call me I'm Realtor in Toronto with 11 years of experience.

How much would a 2000 sq feet apartment cost in Winnipeg?

I would recommend that you search for condos / apartments for sale on the following web site to get a feeling for what your money will buy you:

http://beta.realtor.ca/index.aspx?CultureId=1

This is the primary web site listing real estate sales in Canada.

or the former version of site, which is easy to navigate

Actually, no. It is not possible to buy apartments in Canada as they are usually acquired by property management companies such as Morguard.

It is however, possible to buy a Condo.

This is incorrect. An individual can certainly buy an entire apartment building in Canada if they have the money. I have a friend who owns two small apartment buildings. He is an individual - not a property management company. So it's certainly possible for individuals to do this.

Actually my question was "Is it possible for an individual to buy a single apartment unit, not entire apartment building"?
I guess answer to my question is no. But it might be possible for an individual to own entire apartment building.

Apartments are only for Renting, A company or individual owns the building and rent the individual units to other people.they collect the rent and are responsible for maintenance and stuff.

Condo (or Flat in India) could be in building or town house etc,and u buy the condo and pay condo fees for utilities and for taking care of common areas. U can also rent it to renters.
