Hi, everyone..
I was wondering if I could apply from outside Canada even if I stay in Canada as a visitor. Would that be ok?
I know the "outland" application goes through faster.
My partner and I do not want to stay away from each.
Could anything bad happen because of that?

Thank you

Yes, you can file outland even if you are visiting in Canada. Just remember to keep a 'status' while staying here with your spouse so you don't risk landing on CBSA radar.

Nothing bad can happen unless you don't keep a status.

Good luck.

Hey... thanks!
My visitor visa is valid until 2016.. I got here a week ago.
So, it means I can stay until 2016 or only 3 months?
What would "keep a status" actually mean?

You can stay for six months. You must then either leave or apply to extend your visit.

You can stay here only for 6 months from the date you arrived in Canada. At the end of 5 months, you should file for a visitor extension to maintain status.

That's true.. One month before, we have to reapply.
Do you know if my documents would get to me in my country? I will have to have it sent to me, right?

Since you require a visa, and will need to send in your physical passport, more likely than not your visa office will not mail it to you in canada. what people do is have the visa office send it to a family member in their home country and then have the family member send it to canada. once you receive your approval paper/visa then you can go to a land border, drive to the US, tell them you want to "flagpole" (all border agents are familiar with this), and then turn around to "land" in canada. you will not need a visitor visa for the US to do this. Basically they give you a paper, don't let you enter, and turn you around towards canada so you can land.

Thanks.. When u say: send my passport, do I have to send my passport to Brazil for example?
I got a bit confused now
I'm pretty close to the states so it's not a issue then :)

if you require a visa to enter canada, then your Visa Office will be requesting you send them your physical passport so they can insert the visa counterfoil that is necessary for you to enter as a PR. Generally, visa offices will not send the passport back outside the country they are in. IF your visa office is in Brazil, then yes you will need to send it to brazil. if your visa office is somewhere else abroad, you will need to send it to the visa office your application is be processed. You will receive instructions about this when they request your passport. it's a standard procedure for PR approval.

I understand now.. As long as I don't have any problem doing it, I'm ok with that,

:)
