Is it possible to apply for OWP extension when spouse's work permit extension is in progress ?

Hi Members,

Both of our(me and my wife's) Work permit's are expiring in Nov 3rd 2019. My wife's work permit extension application was submitted a week back and we got the application number of that. With this can I apply for my open work permit extension or should I have to wait until her application get's approved ? The problem is, I will lose my worker status before this get's approved. Please help !!
