is it okay to stop studying while waiting for OWP? INland application

Hi everyone, I am an international student and I am waiting for my OWP to come. I am December 2015 applicant and my visa is valid till 2017. Is it okay to quit studying in school while waiting for OWP? I am currently working 20 hours per week and at the same time studying full time with three subjects. If I am allowed to stop studying and working I will refund the fees I paid in school, but is it advisable to apply for visitors visa even if my student visa is still valid?

Thanks, so if my status as student becomes invalid can I stay here in canada and do you think they will give me the OWP?
