Is it okay that I entered Canada as a "visitor" from the US even though I'm also Canadian PR?

Question in title. I am a US citizen/passport holder, Canadian PR as of Aug 2021, but have not yet received my first PR card. I recently traveled to the States for 2 weeks and upon return to Canada through YYC, I gained entry at a self-service kiosk by scanning my US passport, since I do not have a PR card. I knew something was a little off, as the kiosk asked how many days I would be staying in Canada as if I were a visitor, but when I explained my situation to the customer service rep who was standing nearby, he told me to just put in a random number of days for the declaration and then explain my situation in person to the border officer.

I thought this made sense, so I followed those instructions. However, after the machine printed my declaration, I was directed straight through to my connecting flight without having any chance to talk to a border agent. (Unrelated, but since we did not go through the regular border crossing agents, no one checked our ArriveCan, negative COVID test results, proof of vaccination, etc either, which I found very strange and off-putting, considering what a big deal was made about the necessity of having all those documents in hand when crossing the border...)

I'm wondering if the fact that I technically entered Canada as a "visitor" this time will cause any issues down the line, since I am also Canadian PR and probably should have entered the country under that status? Any steps I should take to fix this? Thanks in advance to anyone who may have some insight!!

I don’t know what the answer is, but I’m interested to know. I highly doubt you’re the first person to do this or this has happened to.

Even if you did have a PRTD in hand, I think the exact same sequence of events would have happened because I don’t think you can scan the PRTD in the self-service kiosk. I don’t blame you for trying your US passport. Presenting yourself to a border agent was 100% the correct option, but odd circumstances prevented that….

In my absolute layman’s opinion, I think with the fact that you’re a PR presently in Canada, it doesn’t matter that you “entered as a visitor”, but it might help to get an expert or professional’s opinion here.

@bellaluna Thanks for your response! I called IRCC this morning regarding the status of my PR card and was able to ask about this situation as well. The agent gave me a lecture about the incorrectness of declaring myself as a visitor when I'm actually a PR, but he also confirmed that there would be no future issue resulting from it and just warned me not to do it again. Hopefully I will receive my PR card before I need to travel out of the country again so this will be a non-issue moving forward, but wanted to leave this answer here in case anyone else is wondering!
