Hi,
My brother lives in Canada, has Canada PR.
My mother in India is applying visitor visa to visit him.
We have established human tie to our home country by mentioning that my father is working in India and she needs to return to him.
Is it still necessary to submit a return ticket under the purpose of travel section.

Ticket is too costly to buy without a visa confirmation.
And I am unsure if the websites that provide flight reservation for VISA at a low price are legitimate or not.

Please advise.

Not mandatory, but generally a good idea. You can book through a travel agent and hold a ticket without confirming it.

It really isn’t necessary. We’ve seen many applicants with fully paid round trip tickets get denied. Perhaps anecdotal, but my family and I have never booked or even showed flight itineraries for our TRV applications and we would get approved.

The factors for approval are everything else, socio-economic ties like employment, savings, assets, etc. Anyone can buy a plane ticket to give the guise of leaving Canada and then no-show for the return flight, if they really wanted to, that’s why it’s not exactly convincing.

Why revive a two years old post?
I was looking into something and came across this and thought to give an opinion just in case if someone was looking for an answer or search on the same topic , doesn't hurt any to always give right info , might not important in your eyes but someone else could benefits for it . sorry if commenting on a 2 years old hurt your feeling .

It didn't hurt my feeling. Just wondering, the reason behind. If someone looking for an opinion, they wouldn't wait 2 years.
