Is it mandatory to have employment reference letter notarized?

Hi,

I worked for my previous employer for 4 years and 10 months.
Out of my tenure, i have the experience letter for the first 3.5 years in company letterhead,

But for the last 1.5 year i have the letter signed by manager and not on company letterhead? Is it ok or do i need to get it Notarized?

Can someone please suggest.

if you are claiming points for the balance then yes it has to be notarised if it is not on a letterhead. if you are not claiming points for it then you can safely move it to your personal history and you even need to use that document.

One more query, since all of my work experience is foreign and as far as i understand if the experience is more than 3 years we get the maximum points no matter if its 10 or 3?
In that case does that matter even if i don't get it notarized as i already have a letter on company's letterhead for inItial 3.5 years and even with my current employer i have the document.

Only 1.5 year is not on company letterhead.
Please suggest.

Only letterhead needed for work experience claiming points for. If experience greater than 3 years has no value for points - move it to personal history. Do not add it in work history

I dont think i will be able to move it now.
I have already mentioned all of my experience in my Express Entry profile and now have received ITA on it.
I think my PR application should match with what i mentioned in the Express entry profile? Isn't it?

No, notarization is not mandatory. If for some reason the letter cannot be on company letterhead, then have your manager attach his/her business card to the letter.

Keep it simple : If its not on the company letter head get it notarized and attach a business card of your immediate superior

If it were required, IRCC would say so. IRCC required many documents (certified copies) in the past, it no longer does.

It may be the "norm" in particular countries to get it notarized, but here, only legal documents are "notarized," and this is not a legal document. If you were to get it notarized, you would essentially be asking for a "sworn affidavit" (signed in front of someone with the legal authority). This is not required. The only thing that is required is that IRCC be able to contact the individual signing the letter to verify the information.
