Is it legal to leave Canada during PR application?

I've submitted my PR application in Nov 2020 but I didn't get an update until now. Due to pandemic, I've been separated from my family for 1.5 years.

Planned to go back and meet my families after I get the PR approved, however it seems endless and unpredictable.

Is it legal for me to leave Canada during this period to visit my family outside of the country? Is there implications to the application?
