would like a response to this as well, well all hopes down the gutter now, didnt know about the new rules ,I'm guessing its almost impossible now to get pr after studying there?
We are not too sure about immigration policy. As for now, express entry system seems difficult.. but I really have no idea the country will have more open or close... It depends on their political game.. Once, we will see a good leader who want to welcome more immigrants. it should be fine for international students.

well express entry is the new system that they implemented since jan 2015 u should read about it. but in short if u were looking for PR under CEC(which most of us would be) then with express entry u have to wait for ur number to come up. also provinces r also modifying PNP so thats becoming risky too. so who knows what will happen with PNP by the time u graduate(1 to years)

some one on this forum has started a petition asking CIC to consider PGWP holders/students

also read about express entry on this forums express entry section and see whats currently going on with express entry. u can see what problems people are facing etc.

the way i see it canada wants experienced people not international students. express entry system favors experienced people over international students hence ur number may never come up for PR.
well thanks for the information, i just read it and cried i little bit... however please bear with my current answer, because i will explain my plan further.. please read my answer until finish (i mean the whole thing).. thank you very much

and how is this forum gonna work? are they really gonna change the policy due to this petition?

yup, i will read it... thanks

The way I see it, if you are an international student with a prior degree( eg bachelors) and some work experience from your home country, you can apply under federal skill.

After a year of pgwp, you can apply under cec. It's suppose to the a faster system. So hopefully, before the three years of pgwp expires, you shud have been able to get pr.

That's my opinion tho'. All is not lost.

It will only affect to those who are doing Bachelors or Diploma, Master program candidate wont be affected..
Post Graduates from Canadian universities there is a better way to get PR and that is apply for Provisional Nominee just after getting Masters degree and then get PR firmly... :)
for these two responses, this is my take, answer and further question....
in my plan, i will be land in canada in 4 or 5 years from now. you can see my detailed plan in here (i posted before)
canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/can-someone-please-evaluate-or-comment-about-my-plan-moving-to-canada-t273744.0.html;msg4156560#msg4156560 (please add the www)

so by then, i will have my previous master degree, a four of five years working experience in my home country, and after finishing my PhD in Canada i will have canadian degree... During my stay in there while finishing my degree, i will learn french to improve my points...

so after my education of course i will apply for PGWP.

so my questions: for the two responses
1. @ Savvyor with having my PhD in that time (10 years from now) do you think i should pursue CIC or Provinsial Nominee?
2. @ excitedme do you think that 1 year is enough for applying under CEC?
3. Im just curious, is PGWP is a one time thing? so if its expire, there no other way than comeback to our home country? arent there Working Visa?
thanks

Bro, dont lose hope, canada immigrational laws has been on try and error,if im right.
Who knows it will change for the better and thus benefiting international students.
A country cannot depend on labour market by looking to only PHD. MASTERS AND BACHELOR DEGREE HOLDERS alone.
Hold on fast to your dreams and works towards it bro, and it shall be ok. That its only my point of view
hope so, i will set my foot there in the next 4 - 5 years, i hope it will be easier by then not more difficult. However i kind of confuse about your answer. Well basically having PhD from Canadian University is my weapon to get there. Im not sure i understand you answer. can you please elaborate? thank you

well when u spend $30k and they change rules on u thats when u lose hope. what i am saying is when u decide to study in canada be careful. dont put ur parents in loan etc. now it seems if u take up job in ur home country and after a few years u can apply directly under express entry no need to spend tons on money on education.

You are right. Most international students are young with no experience at all. They just have around 2-3 years working experience. However, I found something from express entry. They prefer to accept people who is speaking in English or French as a first language. This means that they prefer... british/Australia/USA/Ireland/ some africa countires... + other countries. Even european who speak in german, italian, Sweden, and other languages.. they also will get some disadvantages. Even indian guys... I dont see the all indian students speak in English as a mother tongue... If their parents speak in English, they can put the English as a first language on papers.

I dont know.. It's just my opinion...
for these two responses, this is my take, answer and further question....
1. @ meadlink: i will be having 4 - 5 years experience before i get to CANADA, and i will spend another 4 - 5 years to pursue my PhD. Do you think i should just apply for express entry from the beginning or i should stay to my previous plan?? please kind scroll up there is something about my plan.
2. @ dental15 link: i cant not argue with the language information, all i can say, during my stay there i will learn french to get some points. so i can speak french and english on the intermediate level i hope.....And again i will not be that international without experience, i will be having 4 - 5 years experience from my home country and also i will purse another 1 - 2 years during my PGWP.. what do you think about this?

If you want to get Residency PGWP is probably not the way to go. It seems that CIC wants people on PGWP to go back home after it expires.
You should be studying in a Skills shortage area and Business Degrees do not qualify much anymore.
PNP in BC is currently closed for about 90 Days it is being revamped and Ontario is experiencing huge unemployment and a bad economy so is Alberta.
So you better research and pick your area of study carefully. I suggest the Tech, Medical and Bio Tech Sectors.
Get a Canadian Education by all means it is cost effective compared to US, Australia, the UK and EU.
Than try to get employed to get Canadian Experience giving you enough points to apply for PR.
i already have bachelor and master in psychology when i will enter CANADA in the next 4 - 5 years and i will also spend another 4 - 5 years there to get my PhD in clinical psychology... what do you think? is psychology a good choice? Aside from CEC (is CIC and CEC different?) and PGWP what other track you could recommend me if you see my plan? (which is obtaining Canadian Degree) Another suggestion will be highly appreciated...

Make sure you study a 3 year program at the least and work one year. also if you can score max points in IELTS/CELPIP then it will be easy for you to obtain permanent residency.

For others who can't score the max points in ielts/celpip, then yes it is harder/next-to-impossible for them to stay in Canada to get their PR unless ofc the cut-off drops to points manageable by average ielts/celpip score takers.

For CEC you need atleast one year work experience in Canada.

couldnt help by notice... you mean by max points is IELTS is 9 in every section? well that is hard even for local right? IELTS is not about being good in english only, but intelligent also measured in the essay part if im not mistaken... Is that mean that even i have all the requirement like canadian degree and everything but my IELTS score is only 7 or 8, it still hard for me to get PR? would appreciate if you reply this question... thanks :)

lol 6.5 is bare minimum score and PR depends on a lot of factors read about express entry on CIC website
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/express/express-entry.asp

calculate ur CRS on below calculator and if its below 450 well its difficult for u to get PR. right now CRS below 450 are not invited to apply for PR.
