Hey everyone, i know this is off topic in this forum, but Is it easy to get a credit limit with banks as soon as one arrives in canada?

Is any pre work related to canada banks required before one enters toronto?

Yes you can get your credit card if u start working and hav your pay cheque for part time or fulltime in any stream and then you can goto bank like BMO RBC there some credit card rep will help you further hope your hav some idea now

You can usually get a credit card with $500 limit to start off. I got mine from Rogers Bank after getting a mobile plan with Fido.

Most banks have a welcome package that includes a credit card even if you do not have a job or income. You can get $500 with RBC and $1,000 with TD. BMO also offers $1,000 but you might need to secure it with a deposit of same amount. I myself got $1,000 with TD which they raised to $2,500 after I completed 6 months in the country and paid my bills in time. My wife got the $500 with RBC and she is a stay at home mum.

I got a credit card with TD and Scotiabank. TD offered $1000 credit limit, while Scotiabank offered $2000 for me. I had no credit history in canada or income when i landed 6 months back.

The day after I landed as a PR, I was able to get a bank account opened. They had new offers where they would have no fees for 6 months, and they also offered a cash back credit card for a small line of credit. Shop around in different banks and check which ones have good offers.
As long as you have a SIN number you should not have a problem securing a line of credit. Usually a new credit score starts off around 750-760 so that's good enough to get a credit card.

Stop spouting gibberish if you don't know the realities- any newcomer gets a credit card with zero credit history.

If you need a bigger limit you can always get a secured credit card. Put money in a locked savings account against your card.

I immediately got the Visa credit card with the 5000 CAD limit at my local Scotiabank branch. But the catch was that they put a 5000 CAD hold on my savings account.

About a year later, I asked them to remove the hold, and they did that without any problem. They also offered limit increase several times since then.
