Is it beneficial to hire an Immigration Lawyer or Consultant

Hey guys,
I would like to know how many of you hired a consultant to assist you in your visa process? If you did, what was the result? Is it advisable to hire a consultant who is based in Canada whiles you are outside Canada to assist you in your documentations?

bro it is good to go to consultancy because we dont know everything about the process and they can guide .
my frnds did the same and got their visa. but be carefull they should not demand more money they can be fraud as well.

Rubbish , apply on your own .simple forms need to be filled up .why hire a consultant and spend unnecessary ?

Well I had applied red river college , Fleming college , Sault college and centennial college on my own .Got offer letter without any issue.just need to track status of your application.Someone must have misguided you to get easy money.
Consultant only sales a course to students which they get commission for .
You got visa coz of proper document , consultant are courier nothing else.

yaaa i agree wid u at some extent..but some consultants have good relationship with colleges..so it raises d possibilty of getting admission...ever1 has different opionion...anywayz its gud dat u have done ur work by urself..

Really? I did without consultant, all the way through. I'm also seeing here that a lot of people are getting false information from their consultants and end up in deep shit.

If you are smart enough to be accepted to college/university then you are smart enough to fill forms and send them in. It isn't rocket science.

Good relationship with consultant .completely baseless cooked up rumors.Anyone reading this post .kindly apply on your own.we forum members would be more than happy to help you without any fees.Most consultants suggest to submit fake degrees.
This forum has lot of cases where visa was rejected due consultant neglecting or updating his own knowledge.Follow checklist and submit documents .

The question is what happens if you do it on your own and they still deny you? I have been denied and I contacted a law firm who thinks I have been refused unlawfully on the bases that is not in line with my documents, cos I had all the documents and proved beyond all reasonable doubts that I will return to my country.
The lawyers know how they can refer the VO and write a letter to back your application to prove that, if they will refuse you, they can only do that according to the immigration act. The lawyers will make sure your documents fall in line with everything in the immigration act. An individual can be refused with the VO knowing that, you don't know everything in the immi act. You might be lucky, and the location where you applied can favor you. Have you heard of some VO stereotyping and refusing some people cos they think they are from a poor country and they cannot have the money they claim to have? If you are lucky, not everyone might be lucky.

There is no "best" answer for this as such..
Every situation is unique and that will decide if u need a hired help for this..

How much time do you have ?
How much extra money do you have ?
How strong is your profile ? - if u r able to judge that even..

and so on..
Like already mentioned by others.. the process itself is very simple and straight..

Canada is a developed country and all the info is online.. almost all info portals are pretty solid..

If u want this bad.. and u shud.. then spending a lil amount of time online will give you a lot of info..
then there are forums as this one.. where people offer free honest help..

Me and many others I know have been burnt by hired help.. some were good for nothing..
What I can suggest is:

If u have the time (wich u shud if u r into it), and wanna make an informed decision, get the info yourself.. its simple online search.. nothing much..
u will feel much more confident n save much more money..

Thats right. It is good to hire an immigration lawyer, but with consultants, might work both ways. You should also be cautious and should not leave everything to them. We should tell them to do things the way, we want.

But yes, I personally feel it is good to hire an immigration lawyer, who is well versed with the immigration acts, unlike the consultants. When our appl is represented by an immigration lawyer, the VO will also be fair in giving a decision, knowing well that the decision will be definitely analysed by the lawyer.
