Is it a good idea to get the IELTS Writing section re-marked?

Hi Guys,

I had recently taken the IELTS test, and my L/R/S/W scores are 9/8.5/7.5/6.5. A 0.5 increase in writing would take my CRS score to 478 from 420. I am thinking of applying for a re-evaluation. Would that be of any use?

Please share your experiences.

Only if you feel confident you have done it well. Otherwise there will be no change.

Also, remember re-evaluation is time consuming. It takes atleast 8-12 weeks. So it will be better to resit the test.

Yes, I am totally confident that I have done well. In fact, I was never worried about my Writing score as I was expecting atleast 7.5 for sure. So it was a bit of a shock for me. My handwriting is not that great though, and I am wondering if that might've played a part in this.

Time is not really an issue for me, as I will be applying only after 4-5 months.
