is having a high ielts band score(8+) given more preference?

like do they give more preference to the applicant if he has everything else right but high band score.



what if he has low marks in studies but high band score. would they consider it?

Yes it happens , I have seen many times that applicants with good band score got their result in less time . One of my friend applied on 25 July and got his result by 15 august (he scored 8 bands) but he had a very strong profile .
