Is explanation letter necessary for EE?

One of my past jobs has no reference letter, because banks simply do not provide anything in writing. I do have an old HR letter regarding my work visa renewal though....it confirmed my hours, position, salary and benefit. Will it be sort of prove? Is it necessary to do an explanation letter?

It woulld be better if you consult with some consultant..Immigration guidelines clearly states that on a company letter pad, your job responsibilities, salary, time period must be mentioned..
