Hi All,

Below is my situation.

I am a Canadian PR holder (did my soft landing in 2018, and post that have been staying in the US).

Now, I am planning to move to Canada for good, in August'20 or later.

Want to know whether I am allowed to enter Canada in the current COVID situation being a PR, via Land/air in August'20 or later with all my belongings?

I would really appreciate information/link/guidance on this, as I am planning my move very soon.

The bigger question is: when did you do your landing in 2018? Will you be able to prove residency to maintain your PR status? You have to live in Canada for 3 out of 5 years to keep your PR.

Residency obligation is 2 out of 5 years, hence the poster is safe to enter.

Source please. I was looking for it and only found the 3 out of 5 to qualify for citizenship. I remember it being the same for PR.

Yes, you're a PR, you're allowed to enter, just make sure you have a quarantine plan for the 14 day mandatory quarantine period.

The link for residency obligation is 730 days mentioned here : https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=727&top=4
I entered in Dec 2018, so I am covered on that front.

Further, coming to the main question I had, am I allowed to enter in the COVID situation? Given that only essential travel is allowed till 21st Sept'20, will mine be counted as essential travel ?
Islander216 is correct. As a PR, you are allowed to enter but you'll have to make sure you make arrangements for the 14 day mandatory quarantine.

Residency obligation for maintaining PR is 2 years out of 5, and for applying for Citizenship is 3 years out of 5. In this case, residency obligation is a non-issue.
