Is ECA necessary for Work Permit?

Hi,

I am wondering if ECA is required when applying for a work permit ? I have IELTS score above 7.
The job I am applying for is LMIA based and the description of the job states the following:

Qualifications:
• High School education required.
• University degree or college diploma in related field is an asset.
• Digital marketing & social media experience is an asset.
Experience: 1 to 2 years retail or wholesale sales experience

So should I get ECA done will it be an advantage when I apply for the work permit ?

My employer has told me it's not necessary, he has applied for LMIA and received a positive LMIA.

Any advice will be appreciated.
