Would Canada necessarily know that they also have a Florida license? If they get to keep the Canadian license when they get the Florida one, when they go renew the Canadian license, they just turn in the expired one and keep the Florida license at home.

The Canadian province wouldn't necessarily know, but when you renew your Canadian license in my province they ask you if you hold a license from any other state or province. If you don't want to lie (which I imagine could be interpreted as misrepresentation) they will probably require you to turn in your Florida license, thus obviating the fact that Florida will give part year residents a Florida license and allow them to keep their license from their home state/province.Leon said:Would Canada necessarily know that they also have a Florida license? You could do that but unless you are from Florida, most U.S. states are not going to give you a license if you tell them you want a replacement because you surrendered your original one to a Canadian province. You can lie and say you lost it, but that is against the law. It's called misrepresentation. You might never get caught, but if you do it could put your immigration status into question I imagine.
In my situation, I spend most of the year in Canada and part of the year in my old U.S. state. Legally, I am probably a "resident" of both places, so it would be convenient to have a license from both places, but it doesn't seem possible w/o committing some form of misrepresentation. Unless someone can come up with some way this is possible?
If you are coming from the US, when you exchange your US license, ask about this. Ask them if you are really supposed to go get a new license every 6 months as you move from place to place. Try asking at more than one place. If one of them says you can keep your US license, get it exchanged there. If none will let you keep it, next time you are in the US, take your Canadian license there and explain it to them. They might give you a US license and let you keep the Canadian one.

Depends on which province. Some provinces have exchange agreements with the UK and some don't. Pick your province from below and see if you can find that information on the website. If not, you can call them and ask or just deal with it after your move.
