Is creating an online CIC account worth it?

Hi All,

I have just been checking the status of my application via the CIC page. It doesn't seem to update that much, but then it hasn't been long at all since they started processing the application either. I'm happy to simply wait and check once every couple of weeks via the website. Would you recommend setting up an online CIC account and linking the application to that?

Do you get much more detailed information via the account?

You do get a more detailed view via MyCIC, but the real benefit you get is that if there are any requests for additional information, you can usually upload these direct through this site once you have linked you application.

Personally, I would (and did).

It is however a bit of a dark art getting the application linked. One way that worked for me is in the attached link.

I don't think it provides a lot of details and it doesn't update that much. It is still a bit better than e-cas though. My husband passed eligibility 3 months ago according to GCMS notes but yet it still says eligibility in progress on the linked application. It is really up to you.

Yes. This is very useful and makes it easy to submit things quickly.

I hadn't considered the ability to use it for providing additional information as and when required. Maybe I'll look into it further and request a GCKey.

I haven't had to yet, but we also had all medicals and police certificates obtained earlier and sent off with the application. I am just hopeful that our application is fairly straightforward and will proceed without us having to provide anything further.

I presume if something was requested, the some instructions on how to do this via MyCIC would be part of that request.

When you click on the linked application, there will be a blue button at the bottom - view submitted application. Click that and a list of the document requests should appear with an upload button beside each one.
