We consider the begining of our cohabitation May 7th 2013, so did we became common law on may 7th 2014, or is it may 8th 2014? Our CRA status is already for may 7th 2014 and It won't let me change it.

In Canada, you are recognized as common law after 6 months of cohabitation.

That's news to me.

CIC determines common-law eligibility after cohabiting for 1 year continuously, even though the requirements differ between provinces.

I've never heard that Canada recognizes CL after 6 months.

Wrong. It's one year for immigration purposes.

It's also one year for taxation purposes. What else is there?

We moved in together on April 20, 2012 and applied on April 20, 2013. I'm a PR now so it must be exactly 1 year ;-)

1 year for immigration, 1 year for taxes and depending on the province 2 or 3 years for the provincial requirements when it comes to death, splitting up etc.
