I have created my profile in Express entry pool and currently, my profile meets eligibility criteria under the Federal Skilled worker category. In August, I will be completing 1 year of work experience in Canada and I was planning to update my profile so I can be eligible under the Canadian Economic Class category too. But my friend told me that since my 1-year work experience included 1 month of the co-op experience, I need to wait till September as co-op experience is not valid under CEC & FSW. Can someone please guide me?

For CEC,
Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (even if you were on a co-op work term) doesn’t count towards the minimum requirements for this program.
That's what mentioned on cic website. So YES you cant claim under CEC
