yes otherwise file will be rejected...

you can use your other certificate and attach a letter of explanation showing you dob mother name father name ...

Hi

Born on 1980 and i don't have the certificate. Will my ssc Memo will be served as Birth proof?
Or

do we need to get it now at any cost?

you must get one. I am also 1980 born and get one for myself. Its not so tough. Other docs like High School Passing Certificate with affidavits etc. is not a safe way. There are many cases the file get rejected in such scenario.

Agree with Amit.

I have seen case where people without the birth certificate got rejected. Affidavit can work but not sure.

One more thing I'd like to mention. Review your kids birth certificate for any error / spelling mistake or mother's maiden name etc. I lost 1 month due to this. I've written a complete summary of my application, refer it. You may get an idea about the general mistakes and how to avoid them:

Hi,

It is not necessary and you can submit other documents (but should have both Mother and father name on it) along with and affidavit for the reason of missing DOB.

Thanks.

HWarraich Brother,

I do not agree with you. The Affidavit might be accepted in case you can give a solid reason that why can't you get a birth certificate. Finally it depends on the CIO officer reviewing your file.

If you look at point 16 of the Document checklist which reads:

you must provide the following social status documents for you, your spouse or Common-law partner:

* Birth Certificates
* Marriage Certificate
* National Identity of Documents

Short answer is yes, it is mandatory otherwise you are at the mercy of the visa officer. Someone said on another forum that birth certificate is asked to prove the age and grant the point for age. That argument is total rubbish. You passport is your international identity and that is an authenticated proof of your accurate date of birth. In my opinion, birth certificate is totally unnecessary and the person who has put it in compulsory documents list is an idiot.

The perception in Canada is that everybody gets a birth certificate automatically. If you don't have a birth certificate, you were never born(simple logic from Canadian point of view)

in Asian countries like in India and Pakistan, children born between 1947-2000 hardly need BC within country so nobody pays money to get it.

If you need PR visa, you must follow what the instructions say whether it is wise or foolish. That's what I have done and that's everyone else should do.

Good luck

Hi

Contact your local authorities if you can get Birth certificate from registered record, notarized school leaving certificate also acceptable but not in all cases.
