Is Birth Certificate is mandatory for Canada PR file under spouse category?

Hi,
I am going to apply for Canada PR under spouse category. I dont have birth certificate, everytime I used my matriculation certificate as date of birth certificate. Can I use this matriculation document as my birth certificate.

Hi Kulbir,

My wife didn't had the birth certificate too... So I submitted her school marksheet, other docs showing her DOB and certificate of birth from Indian consulate in Toronto. I applied for her certificate of birth at BLS India Toronto. I applied in OCT 2014 and there is nothing much done on my file at CIC so can't say if they are satisfied with this document. But this is best you can try. U can attempt to get the birth certificate if it was ever registered. Hope this helps

I would say birth certificate is must. But school LC holds the same information. You might need to talk to some legal person for alternatives. There might be an option like affidavit.
