Hey Guys

Hello Dear Friends

I am new Immigrant in Alberta in Nov 2009 , planned to move in BC next month, I am surprised when I share this with people here whom I come across, trust me every single person categforically warns me with these comments : Do Not Go To BC - There are no Jobs, It is difficult to survive, there are heavy taxes, expensive housing, you will repent !!!!!
Is this true I am from Hospitality Trade and presently working with canadian restaurant as Manager.

Pl advise friends I cant live in this Freezing Cold I am from warm country.

Thanks a ton in advance

Vancouver is a rather large city with a very diverse economy. What industry are you working in?

Taxes are comparatively high compared to most of the other Canadian provinces (QC and NB have higher taxes). Housing costs are high in Vancouver.

is it actually warmer in BC?

Yes. Right now it is 5 degrees c, whereas Toronto has -5 degrees c. But this is in Vancouver. Kamloops which is also part of BC is -9 :)

Depending on where you are from, Chopsandy, you might find Nanaimo more to your liking.

Housing costs are much lower than in Vancouver, there is a vibrant harbour area close by, and if you want an occasional dose of wild nature, Tofino is a few hours away.

For the occasional trip to a lerger city, Victoria is an hour away, and to Vancouver the ferry takes 1.5 hours, and the bus to downtown takes about 45 minutes.

ANd yes, coastal B.C. is much warmer that the rest of Canada in the winter.

Apart from the cost of housing, I have not noticed a large dfference in the cost of living. I could do a tax analysis for you, comparing B.C. with the cheapest province (Alberta) if you emailed me offline.

I lived in BC for 10 years. There is no Jobs. I moved to Alberta and making huge salaries that I would never imagine in my life. So BC sucks buddy.

There is an enormous amount of jobs in various industries in Vancouver. Of course, if you live in rural BC, it's another story...
