No Pakistani bank statement would not be acceptable. Take cash/Demand draft/Traveller cheques with you.

I think you can show bank statement of your native country.

I know few of my friend showed cash (CAD$) say 50% of required amount and rest in bank statement but must show transaction and not recently deposit. Normally they ask you how much you carry and rest can be shown in bank stateement.

Any other member please correct me if I am wrong

Wrong. Any bank statement from native country would be accepted at POE including Pakistan. This is common sense that when we show proof of founds we show the same statement so why would not that be acceptable at POE.

Further I have some Pakistani and Indian friends who recently landed and personally shown the bank statement from native country at POE and was accepted without any problem. Thanks

Nobody is correct or wrong. It all depends on the immigration officer who receives you at the POE. So to be on the save side please carry cash, demand draft or traveler cheque. On the other hand if you think very carefully, you will find this question, you are coming to settle how will you get the money from your account from your native country? So please think carefully.

For example my friend past through Calgary airport and he told me they did not ask him any proof of funds, but i arrived a few days later and i was asked proof of funds and i had it cash and the man counted it all. So if i did not had it with me like in my friends case it would have been a big problem. All cases are different and we should not compare.

Hope it helps.

Wrong because bank statement is an acceptable proof and no immigration officer has so far denied it. Have you seen any one carrying bank statement and being denied entry? POF can be in form of bank statement.

Regarding your case even if you had bank statement they would have accepted it. Point is you should have some thing in form of POF and it can be cash, demand draft or bank statement.

@Canadaforall pls never in your life send me such a stupid PM, name calling is not a way to reject an offer. Nigerians are not thieves, we re hardworking and good people, there could be few who do bad things just like we have in all countries of the world. Dont be be naive.

As a matter of fact, there is no mention of bank statement as POF. It can be a DD or cash, but that money sitting in your home country is of no use unless it is brought into Canada. The reason for bringing this money is to keep you going for your initial period in a new country based on the cost of living for an average individual. It is always best to bring in money in the form of CAD, so if need be it can be used right away and you do not have to wait for getting money transferred from your home country to Canada when you are in dire straits.

From CIC website:

Proof of funds – Skilled workers and professionals

The Government of Canada does not provide financial support to new skilled worker immigrants.

You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants after you arrive in Canada. You cannot borrow this money from another person. You must be able to use this money to support the costs of living for your family.

You will need to provide proof of your funds to the Canadian visa office in your home country when you submit your application for immigration.

The amount of money you need to support your family is determined by the size of your family. These amounts are updated every year.

You do not have to show that you have these funds if you have arranged employment in Canada.

How much money should you bring?

Find out how much it costs to live where you are planning to settle in Canada.

Bring as much money as possible to make moving and finding a home in Canada easier.

Disclosure of funds

If you are carrying more than C$10,000, tell a Canadian official when you arrive in Canada. If you do not tell an official, you may be fined or put in prison. These funds could be in the form of:
•cash
•securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills) or
•negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders).

Agreed with RockinCanada..

We have an option of anly DD , TC and cash..
Never mind bank statement are acceptable if that is from an international bank having any branch in one's home country so that the funds can be readily transfered.

Thanks

Since you are moving to a different country it is advisable to carry cash equivalent to minimum amount and keep it in different safe places, do not keep all your cash at one place. Cash include CADs, travellers cheques, international bank drafts. (active credit card linked to your online Pakistan bank account having sufficient funds may also be helpful)
