Hi everyone. Here is my question:
I have a PhD and four years experience as a university professor in my home country. I am living out of my home country now and do not have access to my PhD certificate and transcripts. Would it be ok if I applied stating that I have a master's degree? It seems to me that your work experience is independent from your education and both doctoral and master's degrees have the same number of points. Could anyone please clarify this?

you might want to get the PhD degree as well as transcripts posted to you. When you already have that why state that you are only Master's(It may amount to concealing which may create problems later). In fact PhD might bolster you case even though they have same number of points IMO. It may take while to get them but they might be helpful in a positive way. check up with some senior members for their opinion

I still have commitments to my employer to work for them for another two years and my PhD transcripts will be issued then. I do not want to miss this chance as the regulations might change in future. Do you mean I state that I have a PhD on the application form? Then, what happens if I am unable to provide documentations for that?

Generally the employer may not hold the original degree/transcripts. If they insist on holding them, you can request them to take copy of them and get them notarized for use in application process. They may not refuse if you want to have a copy of degree/transcripts for your record. you can at least try.. just do not tell them that it is for immigration purpose

Thank you Plank!
Let me clarify this situation. My PhD graduation certificate is only good for work WITHIN my home country i.e. it cannot be transleted and/or notarized. That is how I got this job. The University WILL NOT issue the transcripts whatsoever the reason is! until I have worked for my employer long enough (totally 7 years). So, if I want to apply for immigration now, I will be unable to provide documentation of my PhD degree. What is your answer now?

well.. I am not sure. If you have a degree and do not claim it on application, I am not sure how it will play out since in the end you sign saying that everything is true to the best of your knowledge. you may want to check with some senior/expert on this issue..
Any one out there who could throw some light on this.. ??????
