Is a casier judiciere necessary for a Sponsorship application in Quebec?

A casier judiciere, or otherwise known as a criminal record as far as I know. My consultant keeps telling me this is needed, but to get one it would take 3 months from Lebanon. Is there actually any need for it? Because I can't find any mention of it on a document checklist or form. I may be mistaken. Does anyone have any idea?

make it just in case you need it apply in your Embassy , but if it not mentioned/required in your list so no need for it
