Hi,

I have complete 1 year under the Young Professional Category through IEC (2015-2016). Does anyone know if it is possible for me to now apply for the working holiday category for 2017?

Think you can only apply for the coop option and not whv according this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/iec/eligibility.asp?country=ie&cat=yp

More info: When I did my IEC visa last year I think it should have been the co-op visa as I was still at university and the work experience was for my degree program. It it possible to explain this to IEC and perhaps be eligible for the WHV?

Did you specifically apply under the co-op stream and submit the co-op job offer along with your IEC application? If you applied under the co-op stream then you should know since this process is different than the regular IEC application process.

If you applied under the regular IEC stream and got a regular WHV - then you need to apply under the co-op stream this time to qualify.

I actually applied under the Young Professional Category but I should have applied to the co-op category. Can I qualify for WHV if I explain my situation to them?

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. All that matters is under which stream your WHV was granted.

If you want to participate again, it needs to be under the co-op stream.

I am completing my final year of university in Canada as an exchange student. Is there any possible way I could get a work permit after I graduate?

Only if you get a full time job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer obtains an approved LMIA.

Exchange students don't benefit from the Post Graduate Work Permit program.
