  • Hi All,

I'm a professional Architect, 3.5 years experience, immigrating to Canada on my own. I have a job arranged already in Toronto, and temporary accommodation (with friends) until I find a good apartment.

This is my Current Check List:
    • Introduction:
      Cover Letter
      Personal Statement
      List of Contents
      Application form IMM 1295B
    • Canadian Employment:
Labour Market Opinion (currently being processed by the appropriate agency in Toronto)
Letter of Employment (with short profile of Firm incl.)
      Up to Date Curriculum Vitae
    • Letters of Reference organised from:
Current Employer (with short profile of Firm incl.)
      Letter of End of Employment
2 Previous Employers (with short profiles of Firm incl.)
      University School of Arch. Secretary
      2 Previous Landlords
      Personal Bank
    • Certificates:
      Birth Certificate
Leaving Certificate Transcript (Secondary School level exams to enter College)
University Degree Certificate (Transcripts and Cert, stamped by Foreign Ministry here in Dublin)
Police Certificate (must be requested by CHC)
Medical Certificate (must be requested by CHC)
National Credit Bureau clearance (i.e. I have no mortgages etc)
    • Passport
+ 4x Passport Photos (signed by me, witnessed & stamped by Garda (Irish police))
    • Information sheet detailing:
Names and Contact list of Family in Ireland
Friends I will be staying with initially in Toronto

    Anything I am missing?

Is a Work Permit what I should be applying for? I intend to stay, so I presume I will need a permit in order to work, and as soon as I get there I should start Making my Permanent Resident application, or whatever is appropriate.

    Suggestions, Comments, Notes all welcome!

    Regards,

Leon

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Yes, to be able to take the job and move to Canada, you need an LMO and to apply for a temporary work permit. After you are in Ontario, you can take a look at their provincial nominee program and applying for permanent residency through them with your employers help. That would be the fastest way. Another way would be to stay on your temporary work permit for 2 years, extend it and then apply for permanent residency through Canadian experience class.

You can find all your info at http://www.cic.gc.ca/

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies!

1) Thank you leon - good to get confirmation from someone who knows! Btw Im not enitirely clear- but is a Work Permit for a Year or 6 Months?

2)cchabert - no it was not requested- but Im figuring on just including it as part my full disclosure "policy".
