IRCC Seminar - Toronto

Hi Guys,

Their is a seminar in Toronto at "Metro Toronto Convention Centre, NORTH BUILDING, Hall 105, 255 Front Street West" similar to one happened in May 2016 (Edmonton, AB).

I was planning to go but can't because of work. However, posting openly here, if anyone interested, personal message me and I will give you my ticket (2x) information. After the seminar, please share important information on the forum or on this thread.

This seminar is important since most of the time an IRCC officer will be on the floor answering questions about Express Entry and their future plans.

Due to my PGWP expiry in May 2016 i was not able to attend the session in Edmonton even though i lived in Calgary. Now Im in India so noway i can attend such a wrong timing. I hope someone close by could attend this session and talk on our behalf and let the CIC folks aware of our miseries due to EE. Everyday is depressing no matter how hard i try to be normal. I try not to post this kind of stuff but im helpless. I hope someone attends this important session. There is a group on Facebook who actually have attended CIC sessions in Brampton why not post it there , I will share this link but FYI im posting the FB group in here too.

Was anyone able to attend the seminar today?

Attended and it seemed pretty normal.....Even attended a seminar by a Immigration lawyer about immigration.....Pretty generic!! The stalls in the fest were for IELTS, WES and educational institutes and some recruiting companies.....I attended from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.... Frankly speaking I have always been able to gather more information online and on this forum than I did there....But it helps to know you are in the right direction.

Did they mention about how many intakes they plan for 2017?

What is the "right direction"? Can you please be more specific? Did he say something similar to what he said in May re: trend and possible cut off scores in the near future (i.e. below 400)?

He wasn't from CIC unlike the YouTube guy people talk about and represented an Immigration consultancy firm. He explained EE process in detail and what mistakes people make and how his firm helps to make it easy for their clients. And answered general questions from the audience like FBI takes 6 months to complete PCC, try PNP approach, don't get stuck to one province, BOWP, etc.

He said changes are coming but speculated they could be as early as Jan 2017 or as late as 2018. He said do not wait for things to improve, if you get a nomination take it.....Immigration rules can change at any time without notice.....He was selling his firm to the audience......He said based on the recent trend of the cut offs, he saw points going to lower 400 scores in 6 months.....He was also speculating!

There was one more seminar on express entry in the morning hours which I did not attend....Other seminar where by IELTS and Canadian English Exam.

He wasn't the same guy and the seminar is not arranged by CIC. Read my comment above.

By right direction I meant the information available with us is correct and what we are all waiting for has chances of happening...Rest everyone can speculate but the fact of the matter is all the information available to us is what everybody has unless CIC/government announces something!!

OMG, he named the title of the seminar using national/governmental words "IRCC..." as a means to attract the public thinking that it would be informative from IRCC itself; he could have used his firm's name but then people would know in advance that it would be purely commercial and would not attend.

These kind of people did not disclose all information and tend to discourage people with low scores and telling them that their firm can find solutions. In this way they would get consultation fee.

The best place to find information is on news online and McCallum himself confirmed that it will happen in the fall; IRCC knows how these consultants and lawyers are; I'm sure that's why McCallum did not give an exact date as these consultants would try to get prepared and used all strategies to get clients (say, students, francophone countries, etc...).

Did you realise, we found the express entry reforms proposal on a national website I believe rather than on a consultant website and it is not published on most law firms website. If it was, it would not be to the consultant's advantage as people would get information in advance rather than through consultation. The consultants like discouraging people and told them they can find solution, say enrolled as student in a college, in order for them to get commission.

Well, that's my thoughts. Don't lose hope.
