IRCC processing time website update 24 months

Hello everyone,
I see that inland spousal sponsorship timeline for permanent residency has jumped to 24 months.
Is this due to cuts to family sponsorship in levels plan?
Any ideas if it's a glitch because outside Canada one has 10 months still which doesn't make any sense.
This is causing stress and anxiety as that's double the time it was before.
Thank you

I think that’s wrong .. because normally inland is 10 months and Outland is 24 months.. maybe a glitch but that’s totally wrong

For past few months outland time had been consistently shown as 10 months which has been lower than monthly updated inland time which is usually also shown at website around 10-12 months.

That's what it's showing. As far as I'm aware they do this purely on a backward looking basis, ie. they're not guessing about how long it will take, just purely what happened most recent period they calculated.

Too soon to say whether it's meaningful; could be because something changed, some serious slowdown, some random statistical fluke, etc.

My guess would be that they undertook some internal corporate effort to clear the decks of old files (eg prior to start of 2023) and that resulted in a one-off bump showing like this. It makes a bit of sense because there was a period (IIRC) where they drew a line and started processing 'new' incoming spousal apps separate (while they kept the 'covid backlog' with some dedicated unit), effectively two different queues. Possible they decided to wind this up with some extra effort for end of year.

I can't think of any other plausible (to me) narrative that would explain. That might just be my lack of imagination though.

And at any rate, still a guess.

Yes they say that but it’s taking up to 24 months . My friend husband just recently came to Canada and it literally took 24 months to process Outland
