I have received my invitation. I have not included my spouse in the application as we are in process of getting divorce. We are expecting the divorce to be finalized by February next year.

Do I need to submit the medical and police clearance certificate for my spouse as well ? It will be very difficult for me to obtain all this as we are not together anymore.

Yes, medicals and police clearance for the spouse will be required until your divorce is finalised in which case you only need the divorce decree.

How about if we obtain a legal separation in the interim ?

Also, if I am not able to get the listed documents what are my options as far as the current invitation goes ? I got the invitation around October 12

Judicial separation is an option which is the only legal document in India short of a divorce decree.

You can decline the invitation and wait for the next draw or ask your separated spouse for help.

Given that you are set to get divorced by February 2018, I think the best way to proceed would be to wait for a fresh ITA and share your divorce decree. You will be complicating your divorce process which is ending shortly anyway.
