Hello!

I have a friend who’s currently living on Canada with a temporary work visa, and he is able to support my stay. He can provide food and a place for me to stay. I wanted to know if he can write a letter of invitation even if he is not a PR.

Thanks.

Yes he can.

Nonetheless you have to prove you can afford the trip. Canada wants to see YOU are the one who can travel, not your inviter.

Thank you so much for the answer!

If it's not much trouble, could you help me with another doubt.

I plan to visit Canada for a week for the winter holidays, I’ve read about the requirements and processing times. But I’m not sure if I have enough evidence to prove my ties to my country in my application.

I have a proof of enrollment of the university where I currently study which states the duration of my winter break, and proves as well that I’m a full time student in a local university.
And also, I have an expired US visa. Could it help in any way?

I’d like to know if that is enough evidence, or if should I submit more evidence, or what other documents could I provide.
Extra notes: Currently I'm unemployed, as I am a full time college student and I plan to continue my studies when I get back.

You should always attach all possible evidence... thinking that you have "submitted" enough and stopping there is not advised. You should add all documentation that adds to the case and is not redundant.

The letter from your university and the enrollment document is a very good and solid start.

Thank you so much for all your answers! Sorry for bugging you again with questions, but I have two more questions:

What kind of documents can I use to prove my family ties?
And, as I am a full time college student, currently I'm not working. My trip will be sponsored by my family. Can I use a bank statement at the name of my family member who
will sponsor me?

Malex, I was a grad student in the same situation as you this summer. In addition to the enrollment letter, I also suggest incl a letter from your parents stating that they will assume financial responsibility for you during the course of the trip. That's what I did, and I also attached a copy of my parents' POF. In addition, it may further help demonstrate that you plan on leaving Canada if you include a copy of your return ticket. In my case, this was sufficient documentation to successful obtain the required travel documents from CIC. Goodluck!

I plan to visit my fiance come spring next year. In his invitation letter would it be ok to write fiance? Or just bf/gf? Thank you
